Character Biography:

Devon Hamilton was a ward of the state when he became friends with Lily Winters. Lily and other teens in Genoa City were helping Victor Newman rebuild a community rec center. Devon revealed to Lily that he had spent most of his life in different foster homes. His mom, Yolanda Hamilton, was a drug addict who took off.

Understanding where Devon was coming from, Drucilla Winters convinced her husband, Neil to take Devon in as a foster child. Devon became Lily’s overprotective big brother and did his best to stop the relationship between her and Daniel Romalotti, who had been arrested for vehicular manslaughter.

Devon was reunited with his mom and tried to help her with her drug addiction. Neil and Drucilla welcomed Yolanda into their home and even got her a job at Newman Enterprises. But when Yolanda made a pass and Neil and planned to steal him away from Dru, Devon became angry and said goodbye to his mother as she left town.

Devon graduated from high school with honors and was accepted into Genoa City University. But his future was threatened when became ill with meningitis, which left him deaf. He received a cochlear implant that restored his hearing.

Neil and Drucill made Devon’s adoption official and all was well until Drucilla accidentally fell from a cliff and was killed. Around the same time, Lily’s marriage to Daniel fell apart and they divorced. Devon helped her get through it and supported her when she began dating Cane Ashby. Then when Devon’s aunt Tyra and cousin Ana came to town, Devon found joy again.

Neil had become romantically involved with Karen Taylor and even married her. When the truth came out that Ana was actually Devon’s sister, the authorities tried to take Ana away. Neil and Karen stepped in and adopted Ana. But Neil was unfaithful and had an affair with Tyra. But he wasn’t the only one. Devon started to harbor secret feelings for his aunt. Once it was revealed by Devon’s aunt Virginia that Tyra was only his aunt by adoption, Devon and Tyra made love in his apartment, as Devon’s girlfriend, Roxanne, walked in on them. Karen and Neil divorced and Tyra regained custody of Ana. Shortly after, Tyra and Ana moved away so Ana could go to a top dollar music school, that was being payed for by Katherine Chancellor.

In 2010, Noah Newman surprised everyone by playing a guitar and singing at Daniel Romalotti’s showing at an art gallery. Devon told Noah he could set him up with a chance to record. After making and submitting a demo, Noah got a record deal with Tucker McCall’s record company with Devon as producer, and he and Devon left for New York City to record. But he returned to help Lily get through the divorce of her husband, Cane.

During this time, it was revealed that Devon’s biological father was actually businessman, Tucker McCall. Devon was disgusted, as Tucker had just fired Devon as a producer for McCall Unlimited. Devon’s mother, Yolanda, returned to confront her son about Tucker. Yolanda claimed to be clean and sober and even changed her name to “Harmony” to represent a new beginning.
