Young and Restless character history:

As the founder and chairman of Jabot Cosmetics, John Abbott was a pillar in Genoa City, loved by everone. John was married to Dina Mergeron and together they had three children, Jack, Ashley and Traci. After his marriage to Dina, John married Jill Fenmore and had another son, Billy. In 2004, he married Gloria Bardwell, though the marriage was later proved to be invalid. John later re-married Gloria after the divorce from her ex-husband, Tom Fisher, was finalized. It would later discovered that Ashley was not John’s daughter afterall. Dina had an affair with a tennis instructor named Brent Davis and Dina became pregnant with Ashley. However, John was never made aware that Ashley was not his before his untimely death.

Shortly before he died, John had begun serving prison time for killing Tom Fisher, who had made threats towards Ashley.

John, being married to Dina, Jessica Blair, Gloria, and twice to Jill, also had relationships with Katherine Chancellor, Ellen Winters, Joanna Manning, Mamie Johnson, and Gina Roma.

Before entering prison, John had began having trouble seeing out of is right eye. At the hospital, it was revealed that he had suffered a stroke. While in prison, John suffered another massive stroke, which left him incapbable of breathing on his own. Currently married to Gloria, she refused to take him off of life support until Jack and Ashley threatened her with legal action. John was removed from life support and tragically passed away. All of Genoa City mourned the loss of a true hero.

Since then, John occasionally appears as a “ghost” form to his children whenever they need advice.
