Character History:
Gloria Bardwell is the mother of Michael Baldwin and Kevin Fisher. After coming to Genoa City, Gloria set her eyes on John Abbott, and soon married him. John became upset after he learned that Gloria had lied about being Michael and Kevin’s mother. But he soon forgave her.
Jack and Ashley Abbott both despised Gloria. John was set to end his marriage to Gloria but after falling down the stairs, Gloria nursed him back to health. Even Jack was impressed with Gloria’s devotion to his father. Gloria next became friends with newcomer Brenda. Brenda was the mysterious woman who came into town, but in reality was the evil Sheila Carter. She suffered a setback when her abusive husband, Tom Fisher, came to Genoa City. Tom was hoping to cash in on Gloria’s new wealth. Tom returning meant that both Gloria and Kevin had to relive their horrible days as his victims. Sensing that Tom may be a threat to his family, John confronted Tom. They started struggling and John shot and killed Tom. John was sentenced to seven years in prison, leaving Gloria alone with Jack and Ashley.
Gloria next tried to discredit Jack and Ashley by contaminating samples of a new beauty product that Ashley had created. She even put some of the tainted cream on herself in order to throw the attention off of herself. The tainted cream not only burned Gloria and Abby Newman, but a Jabot customer who applied the product was poisoned and died. Luckily for her, the death was ruled as inconclusive.
Then suddenly, John Abbott died from a stroke. Gloria was devastated, especially after Jack arranged it so that she would miss the funeral. Jack had also tricked his father into writing a new will in prison, leaving Gloria with nothing. Gloria was able to convince Katherine Chancellor to give her a job at Jabot as an executive, in order to honor John’s legacy. She then met the new district attorney, William Bardwell. They quickly fell in love with each other and married. But what Gloria didn’t know was that Will was secretly investigating the tainted cream scandal. Just as he discovered that Gloria was behind it all, he suffered a massive stroke, and died before he could reveal the truth. Will was able to tell Gloria that he truly did still love Gloria though. Gloria was struck with grief and also relieved that she was in the clear. Gloria planned a memorial service for William, only to find out that he had a twin brother, Jeffrey!
Gloria became interested in Jeffrey to find out how much he knew about her secret. Jeff and Gloria were married. They were the perfect couple. Both Jeff and Gloria were conniving and deceiving. Jeff and Gloria bought up Jabot stock, and even managed to get Katherine Chancellor’s share of the company. Their plan was to run the entire company with Jack.
But she hit a bump in the road when her ex, Lowell “River” Baldwin, came into town. He was also Michael’s biological father. River being in town brought back old feelings in Gloria. Jeffrey became jealous and to get back at Gloria, he spilled the beans about Gloria’s connection to the tainted face cream. Thus putting Gloria in prison. River left town.
While she was in prison, Jeffrey and Jill Fenmore both tried to get Gloria to sell her shares of Jabot to them. Jack also offered to drop the charges if she told to him. She instead sold her shares to Victor Newman. Shortly after, Jeffrey visited Gloria to inform her they were getting divorced. Michael and Paul Williams discovered that the customer who had died from the cream, actually had died from a severe food allergy. Thus clearing Gloria of murder. Fresh out of jail, Gloria went to visit Jeffrey, only to find him in bed with Jill! But Jeff and Jill broke up and Jeff went back to Gloria. But Gloria told him she had signed the divorce papers and didn’t want to see him ever again.
Jeffrey and Gloria later patched things up and continued their wild and crazy adventures. They managed to buy Neil Winters’ club, Indigo. They renamed it, GloWorm, and currently run it together.
