The Young and the Restless Character biography:

As a young teenager, Nina Webster found herself pregnant by a young boy named Jimmy, who had just been put in juvenile hall. Nina ran away from home and was picked up by Christine Blair. They would go on to become best friends for many years to come. Nina moved in to a home for unwed mothers, run by Rose DeVille. Rose was secretly the head of a black-market baby ring. Rose kidnapped Nina’s son and sold him. Christine helped Nina track Rose down, but were kidnapped so that Rose could get away. They were unsuccessful in finding Rose or the baby. Years later, Paul Williams would look into the case and still found no leads.

Nina then set her sights on Christine’s boyfriend, Phillip Chancellor III. Nina got Phillip drunk one night, seduced him, and became pregnant with his child. Katherine Chancellor and Phillip’s mother, Jill, tried to buy Nina off because they disapproved of her and her relationship with Phillip. Nina refused to be bought. Nina would give birth to another son, Phillip Chancellor IV, and she married Phillip III. Phillip’s drinking problem soon led to his death when his car slammed into a tree, thus leaving Nina with a big fortune.

Nina, still grieving over the loss of Phillip, continued to raise her son. She would have other relationships with Derek Stuart, David Kimble, and John Silva. She began having an affair with Ryan McNeil. Nina became pregnant with his child, and Ryan married her out of obligation. After Nina miscarried, Ryan realized he really did care for Nina. He became a devoted father to Phillip IV, and encouraged Nina to go back to school to get a college degree. Years later, she met and fell in love with Cole Howard. Cole rejected Nina, which caused her to have a nervous breakdown. After Ryan foiled her suicide attempt, Nina alienated Ryan and they were divorced.

Nina began a career as a writer. She met and fell in love with Thomas Del Cerro, a writer himself. Thomas helped her with her writing and convinced her to write about the stolen baby that she never found. Finally getting it out into print, helped Nina to move on. Thomas proposed to Nina, and she accepted after a brief hesitation. When a movie producer came to town, wanting to produce Nina’s book, offering her to move to Los Angeles, Thomas became a jealous and nasty drunk. Nina was stunned, and left Genoa City without him. Thomas left left Genoa City and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

In 2006, it was revealed that Phillip III was switched at birth by his grandmother, Katherine Chancellor, thus making him no longer a Chancellor heir. A man named Cane Ashby was revealed to be the real Phillip.

In 2009, Nina returned to Genoa City to watch Katherine be married to Patrick Murphy. Nina decided to stay in town for a while and began to work a screenplay for Katherine’s novel. Amber Moore would give Nina background on how Cane came to town and was revealed as the real Phillip. But Nina was skeptical of his story and began investigating and asking questions. Paul Williams found out that Violet, the woman that Cane claimed Jill’s baby was given to, had been in Arizona during the time of the switch, which meant Cane was lying.

When Phillip IV, now going by “Chance”, returned to town, Nina needed to find out if he had Huntington’s disease. She had Phillip III’s body brought back up and examined to see if he had the gene for the disease. Much to everyone’s shock, there was no body in the casket! Further tests proved that there had never been a body in the casket! When Nina confronted Cane on this, Cane admitted to everyone that he was a fraud, but that he never wanted to hurt anyone. When asked why he would do such a thing to them, the real Phillip III showed up, very much alive, claiming to be the mastermind of the whole thing. He revealed he faked his death because he couldn’t handle the pressures of being a young father with the Chancellor name. He sent Cane to Genoa City to help ease his family’s pain. Phillip also later revealed to Nina that a reason he faked his death was because he had been secretly gay!

Nina would go on to forgive Phillip, and he would even get the chance to re-connect with his son, Chance. Tests on Phillip proved that he was not a carrier for Huntington’s disease as well.

Nina and Phillip suffered great tragedy when they thought they had witnessed Chance being shot down by Police Detective, Ronan Malloy. Christine was back in town and had been working with Ronan and Chance to bring down a drug mob. Nina blamed Christine for Chance’s death. Feeling upset for her friend, Christine later revealed to Nina and Phillip that Chance was still alive and had faked his death in order to go into the witness protection program. Nina would receive further shock when she discovered that Ronan was the long lost son of her’s that was stolen years ago!

When Ronan needed a liver transplant, Chance came out of witness protection to donate his liver to his brother. After the operation, Ronan took off and left town without an explanation. Nina was upset and didn’t understand why he would just leave without saying anything to anybody. Chance testified against the drug mob and remained in town for a few months before re-enlisting back in the military. Despite her not wanting to see him leave again, Nina told Chance goodbye and watched as he left for the Army and promised to be back someday.
