Young and Restless character biography:
Victoria Newman is the firstborn child of Victor and Nikki Newman. She has always been a daddy’s girl since she was young. She truly is a mixture of both Victor and Nikki, displaying her father’s headstrong qualities and her mother’s tendency to be impulsive. When she returned from a Swiss boarding school, Victoria was determined to reunite her parents, who had divorced and moved on to other relationships.
Victoria soon began developing her own romantic feelings. She dated Brandon Collins, while secretly also dating Ryan McNeil. Ryan and Victoria married, but her immaturity led to their divorce. Next, Victoria fell in love with Cole Howard. At one point, they thought they couldn’t be together because Cole’s mother claimed that Victor was Cole’s father. It was later proven not to be true. Victoria and Cole were married, despite her ongoing love for Ryan. In time, the couple split up and Victoria became engaged to Neil Winters, while Cole married Ashley Abbott. However, Victoria discovered that she was pregnant with Cole’s baby. They named the baby Eve, after Cole’s mother. Sadly, baby Eve died at birth and Victoria was devastated. Her emotional fallout led to her ending her engagement with Neil.
Victoria picked herself back up and quickly moved onto a relationship with Gary Dawson, only to discover that he was mentally unbalanced and obsessed with her. She would go on to begin a new life and become engaged again to Ryan McNeil, but their union was short-lived. Ryan’s ex-wife, Tricia, barged into the church on their wedding day, and fired a gunshot at Victoria. Ryan jumped in front of her, and took the bullet instead. Ryan died in Victoria’s arms.
After Ryan’s death, Victoria began dating Diego Guittierez, and later Michael Baldwin. Victoria chose to leave town after her brother, Nicholas, turned their dad in to the federal agents for illegal business dealings, thus ending her relationship with Michael.
Victoria moved to Italy where she fell in love with art, and began teaching. Jack Abbott showed up one day to bring her back to Genoa City as Jabot Cosmetics’ new CEO. Victoria returned but the deal didn’t work out. She was also heartbroken to learn that Michael had began a new life with Lauren Fenmore. Soon, she found herself working for her father’s company and began dating Brad Carlton, her mother’s ex-fiancee. Victoria and Brad were soon married. Victoria was dealt with two blows shortly after her marriage. One being that Brad had kissed Sharon Newman, and the other being that Brad had been living under a secret identity since he was a teenager, and his real name was George Kaplan. She was stunned to discover that Brad’s mother, Rebecca, had been on the run ever since his family was murdered due to Rebecca’s work returning artwork stolen by the Nazis during World War II. After witnessing Brad take down the violent enemies from his past, Victoria was now more determined than ever to make their marriage work. But Brad’s attraction to Sharon kept getting in the way of things. Phyllis Summers began extorting money from Brad over his affair with Sharon, and the whole affair became public. Finally, Victoria asked for a divorce, being fed up with all of the secrets and lies.
Victoria found comfort in the arms of J.T. Hellstrom, and soon found out that she was pregnant. J.T. and Victoria married and she gave birth to baby Reed.
Next, Victoria’s best friend, Sabrina, came to town for a visit. She immediately fell in love with Victor, as they bonded over their love of art. Victoria was outraged over their relationship and drifted away from both Sabrina and Victor. Sabrina became pregnant with Victor’s child, and the two were married. But Nikki’s new husband, David Chow, was secretly involved with the mob and had gotten into trouble with them. The mob ordered a hit out on David, which not only killed him, but also killed Sabrina and her baby in the process. Victor was devastated and blamed Nikki for his wife’s death. Victoria was also upset, as she was just beginning to accept Sabrina’s relationship with her father.
J.T. began working for Newman Enterprises as head of security, but despised the things that Victor was making him do. He felt that Victor was using him for unmoral things and eventually quit Newman.
In early 2009, Sharon Newman went up to the Abbott Cabin to be alone and think about what to do with her life after her divorce from Jack. Brad showed up and declared his love for her, but Sharon turned him away. On the drive back, Brad had car trouble and heard screams of Noah Newman, Sharon’s son. Brad went to see what was wrong and that Noah had fallen through the icy lake while ice skating. Brad jumped in and saved Noah, but got caught under the ice himself and drowned. Brad died a hero. When Noah woke up in the hospital, he remembered and told Victoria that it had been Brad who saved him.
A funeral was held for Brad, with only his ex-wives, Ashley, Traci, and Victoria, and his children, Abby and Colleen, in attendance.
Victoria became upset when Victor brought Ashley on to take Brad’s position on the Newman board, but Colleen showed up at the board meeting, telling everyone that the Newman by-laws allowed her to take her father’s seat on the board. Victor tried to get J.T. to talk her out of it, but he failed.
Victor arranged for Colleen to get drunk at Jimmy’s Bar and Jeffrey Bardwell took a video of her dancing and stripping on the table. The video was put on the internet and Colleen was removed from the board seat. Ashley was given back the position. Victor and Victoria were also upset with J.T. because the video showed him pulling Colleen down from the table and covering her up. When Victor confront J.T., he said he felt like he had to help his friend. J.T.’s relationship with Victoria further eroded when J.T. suggested that Victor had set Colleen up.
J.T. gave Colleen a ride home one evening and the two began reminiscing about their former relationship which led to them kissing. Meanwhile, Victoria was kissing Deacon Sharpe in his suite. Both J.T. and Victoria left before it went any further. J.T. told Colleen he wasn’t going to ruin his marriage. But days later, after an argument, Victoria went to Deacon’s room and the made love. Victoria eventually admitted her guilt to J.T. who was devastated.
Meanwhile, Billy Abbott discovered Victoria’s affair with Deacon and exposed it on the Restless Style magazine website. J.T. meanwhile took a job in New York and left Victoria a goodbye note. But Victoria caught him at the airport and they left for New York together. A few weeks later they returned and J.T. took a job with Tucker McCall. But J.T.’s loyalty to Tucker and Victoria’s loyalty to the Newman Enterprises kept getting in the way. They decided to end their marriage. Things continued to get ugly when J.T. filed for full custody of Reed, because he didn’t want him around Victor.
Although they were sworn enemies, Billy Abbott began spending a lot of time with Victoria. One day, Billy grabbed her and kissed her, and she smacked him across the face for it. But Billy’s charm eventually won her over and they began a relationship. When Victor saw Billy and Victoria getting along too well, he threatened Billy to stay away. When it was thought that Adam Newman had died, Victoria became a suspect. But when she revealed that she couldn’t have been guilty because she was with Billy in the hotel suite, she was cleared.
When Victor purposely kept J.T. from coming to court for the custody hearing, Victoria’s appeal for custody was lost. Upset, Victoria and Billy took the next plane to Jamaica. They joined a Jamaican wedding party on the beach and became drunk. They woke up the next morning to discover that they had gotten the married! Back in Genoa City, J.T. began dating his ex-girlfriend Mackenzie Browning.
Billy and Victoria’s marriage was outed Abby discovered a video of the marriage and exposed them at a party. Victor was furious and had Michael Baldwin look into it. Michael was able to discover that Jamaican law invalidated the marraige because it occurred after 8:00 pm, and Billy and Victoria separated. But they were unable to resist each other and continued to meet and finally admitted that they loved each other.
Victor continued to interfere in Victoria’s relationship with Billy, citing that Newmans and Abbotts do not mix well. Victoria chose Billy and resigned at Newman Enterprises. Billy asked her to move in with him and she accepted. They celebrated by getting tattoos with each others names on them. Soon, Billy and Victoria began house hunting.
They called a realtor and found a house that looked exactly like the house in the old television series, Father Knows Best. With bedrooms for both Reed and Delia, Billy’s daughter. They fell in love with it and bought the house. Next, Victoria became pregnant. Billy wasn’t sure how to deal with this at first, but soon realized that he really loved Victoria. So he went home and proposed to Victoria, and she accepted.
Billy and Victoria wanted to get married the next day, but since they could not get a marriage license so quickly, they planned a trip to Las Vegas. When Nikki heard of their problem, she pulled some strings with her friend and got them a license. Billy and Victoria were married in their new front yard. But just as the wedding wrapped up, Victor had Victoria arrested for violating the laws governing foreign gifts. Vance Abrams took her case, but Victoria still had to spend her wedding night in jail. Victor offered to drop the charges if Victoria would annul her marriage to Billy. Victoria declined and banned Victor from ever being a part in her children’s life again. Vance got Victoria released on bail and Victor finally admitted to the authorities that Victoria had delivered the foreign gift under his orders. Following another argument with Victor, Victoria began having pain and lost her baby.
Meanwhile, J.T. asked Mackenzie to move in with him. Once Victoria found out, she fought for custody of Reed again. But J.T. reminded her with her lack of employment, he would still appear to be a more stable parent.
Abby hired Vance Abrams to sue Victor for mismanagement of her trust. Victor tried to dissolve the trust, but Vance had a freeze put on it. Soon, Victoria and Nicholas also joined the lawsuit. They won their case, which put a strain on their relationship with their father.
Mackenzie received a job offer from a non-profit in Washington, DC, and they decided to start a new life for them. J.T. got a job there too. J.T. and Mackenzie packed to move and planned to take Reed with them. Victoria was devastated but J.T. reminded her that he had full custody. Katherine Chancellor decided J.T. and Mackenzie needed to be married before they left. With the help of Kevin Fisher and Chloe Mitchell, some strings were pulled and they were able to get a license. Mackenzie’s father, Brock, arrived and performed the ceremony, at the Chancellor Estate. Billy and Victoria attended and then Victoria had to say a tearful goodbye to Reed. J.T., Mackenzie, and Reed all left for Washington DC and drove off into the sunset.
Billy and Victoria tried to have another baby, but were disappointed to learn that Victoria may never be able to have children again. To surprise a depressed Victoria, Billy arranged for Reed to come visit.
Billy was determined to get Victoria another child. He contact Primrose DeVille, niece of the infamous baby broker Rose DeVille and paid two million dollars for a newborn baby girl, who was secretly the abandoned child of Daisy Carter and Daniel Romalotti. Billy and Victoria named their red-haired baby, Lucy, after Lucille Ball. Once Daniel saw the baby, he began to be convinced that Lucy was his daughter. Daniel was able to grab a baby pacifier and ran a DNA test. The results did indeed prove that Daniel was Lucy’s father. Daniel decided to keep quiet, as he felt Lucy was already in the perfect home. But once Daniel’s mother, Phyllis, found out she hired Michael to gain full custody of Lucy. Lucy was taken away from Billy and Victoria and they were devastated. Billy began drinking again and even started gambling again. He left and moved back into his trailer, after a fight with Victoria.
